5 Things We Found Interesting This Month

Each month we will share a few post and articles, both new and old that have caused pause for thought.

  • Complimenting BDD with Session Based Exploratory Testing. Mark: Great detail on how BDD is not testing, rather how BDD sits alongside other testing activities such as Exploratory testing.
  • 10 Experiments to Improve Your Exploratory Testing Note Taking. Mark: When creating our 99 second video on Note taking I found this to be an excellent source of ideas for generating different styles of test notes.
  • The Dunning-Kruger Effect. Dan: The Dunning Kruger effect affects us all. I’ve been interested in this psychological phenomenon for a while, and this blog does well in explaining it.
  • Towards a Theory of Ignorance. Dan: Ignorance (and the 5 orders of ignorance) is something that me and Mark have spoken about in the SWTC sessions recently, and I have been diving a bit deeper into the psychology side of having a lack of information. This blog discusses the the theory of ignorance (and shows a cool model showing the growth of ignorance).
  • The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck (book). Dan: Working within the software testing world can be very stressful. We have so many people to deal with and we have so many misconceptions about our industry to contend with. If you find yourself stressing out about dealing with these things, then this book will help!
